Bagheera kiplingi A vegetarian spider? Well, almost. This spider, native to Mexico and Costa Rica, is the only spider known for eating plants. The Bagheera kiplingi (the name of the Panther in Rudyard Kipling of the jungle book writer) feeds on shoots of acacia plant. These plants tend to be invaded by very aggressive ants. The spider uses its ability jumping between outbreaks of plants with great agility to avoid the ants.
