Nijo Castle Interior. Kyoto, Japan. Tokugawa Hideyoshi effectively turned Kyoto into a castle town, constructing a wall around the city and restricting Buddhist temples to 2 zones. Ninomaru palace at Nijo castle however shows shifting values: shoin-zukuri (architecture of zen study popular with the shoguns), and no tenshu. Ninomaru is a diagonal series of buildings, so that each has as much view as possible.
