Losing 5 Pounds of Bloat - Jillian Michael's Recipe for Losing 5

Losing 5 Pounds of Bloat - Jillian Michael's Recipe for Losing 5 Pounds in 7 Days I've said it before and I'll say it again: if it looks healthy and it promises a weight loss, I try it :) I pinned this Jillian Michael's 7 day bloat loss detox about a month ago and I just finished my 7 days. I liked this idea because it didn't really require you to change your meal habits or anything. It just simply says to add this 60 ounces of tea to your daily routine every day for 7 days. This recipe calls for: 60 oz of purified water 2 tablespoon's lemon juice 1 tablespoon sugar free cranberry juice 1 dandelion root tea bag When I went shopping for the tea bags and cranberry juice, I encountered a problem. I could not find sugar free cranberry juice anywhere! I saw lots of no sugar added, but nothing sugar free. I finally ended up talking to a juice guru at my local natural foods market. The guru explained that cranberry juice will never truly be sugar free, being that cranberries contain natural sugars. Needless to say, I felt so dumb, but the recipe does call for SUGAR FREE. I got the lowest in sugar I could find - organic, pure cranberry juice. Here is exactly what I used: Here is what my tea looked like: The taste is quite bitter, but I didn't mind it. I drink unsweetened tea all the time and this didn't taste much different, to me. The website that my pin originated from is no longer there, but here is a you tube video of Jillian explaining this process. Also, here is a thread from regarding other people's experiences. I really liked this "detox" process. It was not difficult to follow, didn't taste bad and I got results. I didn't lose 5 pounds, I lost just slightly under 4 pounds. For me, that's great! I know that since it's water weight it will most likely come back, but I do feel good about this cleanse. While researching and reading through other people's results, one thing I noticed people talking about was the additional water they drank during this process. Most of the people who did this and got great results said they drank the tea in addition to their average daily water intake. I really drank very little other than the tea. Needless to say drinking the 60 oz of tea per day had me running to the little girl's room an awful lot. I'm sure if I drank the usual 8 glasses of water per day along with the 60 oz of tea, my results may have been better. Either way, I am pleased with my results. I plan to use up the remaining tea bags and cranberry juice to make this mixture until their gone! Pin Tested, Dana Approved! It really cuts down on the water weight gain. The first time I did this cleanse I lost 5.5 lb 3 of which were in the first 3 days. Reply Catherine St. ClairFebruary 16, 2013 at 7:30 AM A note about fluids: 60 oz is a LOT to push. An additional 8 glasses of water may cause electrolyte loss. You need electrolytes in order for your body fluids to flow, from the cellular level on up to organ function. Too much fluid flushing can have dire effects on the body (especially during menstruation, when your hormones are effectively wiping you out) (not to be all scary, but it's true)! Which is funny because you're always told to drinkdrinkdrink water every day. I'm with you, Dana, the tea would definitely be enough for me. Trust your body when it's telling you you've had enough. (Cathy S, LMT) P.S. I loooove pin-testing! This stuff takes time and I appreciate other people's time for doing it. :) Reply UnknownFebruary 21, 2013 at 10:36 AM Just watched the youtube link posted and it sounds to me like she says 16 ounces of water (I also used the cc and it said sixteen). I know you had results with 60 ounces, but perhaps 16 would work just as well and not be as hard to finish. Reply Replies KeriAugust 3, 2013 at 6:21 PM I just tried watching the video with cc and saw 16 as well..... but THEN keep watching and you'll see pretty hilarious mistakes in the CC. So not sure if to trust it at all, lol. Reply locustgrovelucyFebruary 22, 2013 at 4:58 PM ok-I guess I am the negative...I started drinking the tea yesterday and am really bloated and have gas bad- so I am not sure this is for me Reply Brenda WellerFebruary 26, 2013 at 9:24 AM 8 cups of water per day is recommended for the average size person, but everyone has different body sizes needing different amounts of water. I have learned as a rule of thumb, you should take your body weight and divide by 2 to get the total number of oz of water your body needs in a day. Drink the 60oz of tea then add on the difference your body still needs for water. Reply GabbyGalFebruary 26, 2013 at 9:48 AM Just some advice for everyone wondering if this is "safe" to continue with for longer than a week... It is a mixture of tea and lemon/cranberry juice.. What about this makes you think that it would be harmful?? Reply Replies JuanitaMarch 8, 2013 at 8:37 AM The dandelion tea is an herb that is used for liver cleansing, among other things. While herbs are a good alternative to drugs, that doesn't mean it's harmless. Too much could have adverse effects over a long period of time. This is also why nursing moms need to do some research on this and see if dandelion root comes through their milk and how safe is it for the baby. Reply Bum of the nationFebruary 28, 2013 at 2:54 PM sugar free actually means "fake sugar" aka splenda. which isnt good for you Reply JANICEMarch 3, 2013 at 11:19 AM GNC sells Cranberry Juice concentrate, with no added sugar. Reply angieericksonMarch 3, 2013 at 7:15 PM The point in the cranberry juice is for antioxidants. The process used to make concentrate juice actually removes nutrients and fiber from the fruit. Concentrate is not good for you. It actually causes weight gain. You can use any antioxident juice. What you should look for is pure juice. We buy pure blueberry juice at the farmers market. Pure juice is not sweet. Reply Replies UnknownSeptember 17, 2013 at 11:52 PM This is true of all juices not just concentrates. Reply kdavisMarch 3, 2013 at 8:10 PM So I have done this and plan on brewing up some tomorrow-But here is what I did to substitute. Looked all over for dandelion tea (no Target :( ) I did find a tea at Walmart called Detox Tea which has Dandelion Root in it so I use this. Also instead of buying cranberry juice I just boiled up some cranberries in water and then pressed the juice out. It doesn't take that much for one batch. Figured it was healthier then bottled that is many times just flavored apple juice. I also have added a few drops of liquid Stevia to it to help with taste. Reply UnknownMarch 4, 2013 at 10:23 PM Unsweetened cranberry juice can be found in health food stores and is usually known as Cranberry Concentrate. It is extremely tart as the natural "sugars" are not sweet like most of us are used to. As usual, organic is best when cleansing or detoxing. The root is more concentrated than the leaves, but they are the same plant so overall, you'd get a similar effect. You might need to double to teabags if you can only find leaf tea. Nursing moms shouldn't use it because it can dry you up. That is, unless you're like me and have enough milk to feed the entire neighborhood. Sigh. Distilled water? No. Bottled (labeled purified)water or filtered with a britta (for ex.) is best. Tap water, not so much, but still better than distilled. Save distilled water for using in machines that you don't want mineral build-up in (c-pap/humidifier/etc). If you boil the water to make the tea it will be stronger, but cold works fine. It just takes a little longer. Fred Meyer in the NW carries it as well as New Seasons, Whole Foods, and Market of Choice. You'll want to look in their like 'specialty' area where they keep the organic, gluten-free, sugar-free, etc. products. Also, I noticed one person substituted Diet Cranberry Juice. Just a heads-up, that most likely will not work the same. Most Diet Juice isn't real juice because the natural juice of the cranberry has more calories than they want in a diet drink, therefore the organic is a better way to go. After all, the whole point is to get the nutrients and such from the cranberry! Reply Diana MooreApril 8, 2013 at 8:39 AM I can only find the small tea bags, how many should I use. Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 8, 2013 at 1:29 PM I used one Reply GrisApril 8, 2013 at 8:19 PM So ready to try these!! thanks for the review... Reply bikerchickApril 9, 2013 at 7:02 AM I'm on day 3... since I hate any kind of tea, I thought I would have trouble gagging it down, but I added an extra tablespoon of cranberry juice on day 2 which made it easier for me to drink. I'm actually looking forward to drinking it today! :) Do you think regular tap water would work as well? P.S. Just found your blog and love it! Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 9, 2013 at 8:17 AM I used bottled water. I tend to think water is water. Let me know how you make out if you use tap. Reply Gina BarberaApril 10, 2013 at 12:38 PM Hello! Today is the first day I started this drink, I live in Buffalo, NY and found the exact listed items she posted a picture of at Wegmans :) Coming from someone with a sweet tooth, I actually hate the taste. It just tastes like watered down unsweetened tea -_- kinda bland.. I've already drank more than half and have noticed more bathroom visits lol I am a gym/fitness rat and am using this as a quick de-bloat fix. I typically drink 3 liters of water a day, and have replaced much of my water with this.. but as soon as I am done with this drink (I aim to have it all gone by 5pm) I'll continue to drink water especially at the gym. I hope this works!! Reply bikerchickApril 11, 2013 at 10:08 AM Tap water seems to be working just fine. Although I've gotten incredibly chapped lips and my husband suggested it was from the acidity in the lemon juice. I started drinking it through a straw and I think they're getting better. :) Thanks again for the great blog! Reply Jasmine StonechildApril 13, 2013 at 12:33 PM What about allergies I'm allergic to Berry's all berries lol any suplement? Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 14, 2013 at 8:43 AM I never saw a replacement for the cranberry juice. Let me know if you find one! Reply anyoneApril 13, 2013 at 1:48 PM I must ask you about that, coz this torment me a lot. Are you sure that your "100% lemon juice" it's from lemon ? I read a lot about stuff like this and must say that's a poison ! At the 70% products like this it's nothing more like a citric acid ;/ [ sorry 4 my bad english] Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 14, 2013 at 8:42 AM I think juice from a lemon would be better. I did use the bottles lemon for most of it though. Reply Katrina WilliamsApril 13, 2013 at 2:51 PM You're supposed to eat while doing this, right? So what would happen if you do this detox thing and only eat breakfast? Because I normally just eat breakfast. Like, would I still get results or would it make me gain weight? (I know, I probably sound incredibly stupid, but I'm just wondering) Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 14, 2013 at 8:42 AM I an only speak from my personal experience. I ate a healthy diet and drank this in addition. I don't think it would cause any weight gain though. Reply Heather GraceApril 17, 2013 at 1:52 AM Do I need to exercise while drinking this? Or can I just drink it and lose weight? Reply MariaApril 17, 2013 at 11:33 AM I've heard about this tea and wondered if it worked! I'll have to try it out too, on the hunt for the tea now! I'm your newest follower! :) Reply lilablume29April 18, 2013 at 9:33 AM i have not hurd of this at all but i am willing to give it a shot to see what it does for me if it works i will keep it up along with the walks i dod everyday for and hr a night.i also go a candle that ibought theother day and it not here yet but it has a suprise in it can hardly wait to get it and see what it is a ring bracelet necklace ect Reply Cori LynnApril 24, 2013 at 7:23 PM Did you mix everything together in a pitcher or did you just mix the ingredients together each time you made your water bottle? Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 24, 2013 at 8:39 PM I made the entire amount for the day in one large pitcher Reply Linda HoffmanApril 25, 2013 at 9:16 AM your juice guru was trying to make you feel stupid. All fruit contains a sweetness that does not mean it's sugar. You just want unsweetened juice. Meaning sweeteners, ie sugar, was not added. The guru was just trying to show he knows so much more than you. Reply bribotApril 29, 2013 at 10:37 AM Where did you get your bottle? Reply Replies Domestic DanaApril 29, 2013 at 3:05 PM I got it at Wal Mart. Reply Victoria SandlinMay 1, 2013 at 9:48 PM Since this is just water weight, about how long does the weight loss last? How fast does it come back? Reply Replies Domestic DanaMay 2, 2013 at 5:58 PM Not immediately. I kept up with a healthy eating regimen so that helped. But eventually, yes, I did. I can't say exactly how long, a couple of weeks. I think of this as a great way to slim down quick for something special or to squeeze into something in a hurry. Reply Lady SouthMay 2, 2013 at 8:01 PM Trying this..however GREEN tea (decaf) with lemon works just as good. I dropped six lbs in one week drinking 32 to 46 ounces a day. I also take a supplement too everyday. Great for metabolism. :) Reply Ghost girlMay 5, 2013 at 8:06 PM Dandelion Tea is a natural diuretic. It's actually the only safe thing you can have while pregnant. Also helps keep the baby from getting jaundice. Reply Beth and familyMay 14, 2013 at 11:13 AM I just tried this today, just a bit more to drink, but I gotta tell ya, I have been to the bathroom 12 times and its only 2 pm. Jeesh this stuff makes you go. Is it the water or the tea? Tastes okay, pretty refreshing, but the bathroom visits oh my. Can't wait to see if this really works. Reply Beth and familyMay 15, 2013 at 12:50 PM This makes you use the bathroom so much its annoying, but going to continue it anyway to see if it works for me. Reply Maureen DennisMay 21, 2013 at 5:51 PM Ok i am confussed. How do you make this? There are ingredients but no you brew the tea hot and then let it cool or put the tea bag right in the water/cranberry juice/lemon mix? Reply Victoria CouchJune 6, 2013 at 6:45 PM Am I supposed to brew the tea hot first and then add the other ingredients? Or do I just put everything together and let the tea steep in the other ingredients? Reply NotabloggerJune 9, 2013 at 12:45 PM This drink never made me lose any weight , I did like the taste and had no problem drinking the daily amount, it made me feel very bloated though , all that liquid in my stomach.I drank it for 7 days and then cut down to half the amount which I now still drink every day. As a weight loss I would not recommend it but I like it better than just drinking plain water. Reply Hello.Lovely.GlowJune 14, 2013 at 5:07 PM Hello, Dana! We love your blog! We just began our own blog/online spa and we referenced your post today. Here is the link: Tiffany and Carrie Reply CatHerderJune 18, 2013 at 4:35 AM I threw fresh cranberries into a pot with water and boiled, pressed and strained..and then said DUH i have a juicer LOL. Gonna buy a couple bags of the frozen ocean sprays, let thaw, throw through the juicer and keep in the fridge. Reply lokafurJune 21, 2013 at 1:19 PM FYI lots of bottled water comes from a municipal source which means its bottled from city tap water, check the bottling source of your water or use a Brita if u want filtered water :) Reply hc2013July 1, 2013 at 5:22 PM i bought cranberry cocktail juice with 2/3 less sugar than regular, but i wonder if i should buy juice that's not 'cocktail'??? Reply Callie MondyJuly 7, 2013 at 8:11 AM Stupid question, do you boil water, add tea bag, then drink cold? I'm not a tea drinker, so I'm a little confused. When do you put in the lemon juice and cranberry juice? Reply Sammi GallowayJuly 7, 2013 at 9:20 AM After completing the week how long do you have to wait until you do it again? Reply Lynn PowerJuly 10, 2013 at 8:53 AM On day 2 of tis detox..the cold tea is fine and not at all bitter, think unsweetened iced-tea. didn't, weigh myself first, but noticing a difference in how my belly looks. Eating and exercising as per normal. thanks for the idea! Reply ChristinaJuly 11, 2013 at 2:43 PM I've never made tea before. Do you just leave the bag in the mixture, or what? Someone please explain! Reply AakritiJuly 22, 2013 at 2:11 AM lemon juice has a lot of health benefits. it is good for both internal and external is rich in vitamin C. which gives glow to your skin, lemon also helps in fighting kidney stones.Lemon Juice For Weight Loss is just out of the world than any other tip for losing weight. Reply Sarah K.August 1, 2013 at 8:33 AM I did this cleanse last month and it was great. I'm doing it again now (on my second day) and I think I'll make this monthly. I bought a bottle of liquid concentrated Lakewood organic no-sugar-added cranberry juice and I use tap water. That way I don't have to keep going to the store for more supplies. I had the 5-lb loss using tap water so I don't think it matters much. Reply Lisa JuryAugust 19, 2013 at 11:04 AM when you seeped your tea did it have a color? mine is clear... Reply Replies Domestic DanaDecember 16, 2013 at 7:25 PM Yes, mine was a light color Reply ErinSeptember 5, 2013 at 7:19 AM I am in the process of drinking this and I am also drinking my regular 8 glasses of water. I woke up this morning and I felt great! I'm not bloated! I will weigh myself in a few days I think, I'm going to give it time so I don't get discouraged. Also, I'm planning to do Jillian's DVD 30 Day Shred 5 days a week. So hopefully all of these things combined, while eating a lower calorie diet, will see the pounds, the water weight (and bloating), disappear! Thanks Dana! P.S. I left the tea bag in for many many hours (like 6 or 7 hours...this time I will take it out sooner. Hopefully it doesn't have any negative results). Reply Replies Domestic DanaDecember 16, 2013 at 7:25 PM I left my tea bag in for too long as well and it tasted bitter. I've done the 30 day shred previously. Loved it!
