Akebia quinata. This is an unusal but lovely, fully hardy, rambling climber. From March – May chocolate coloured, exotically scented flowers appear, which stand out beautifully against the bright green leaves. The leaves themselves become tinged with purple in autumn and in a hot summer large sausage-like fruit can appear. Plant in full sun or partial shade and in moist but well-drained soil.Le Jardin Perdu
