Sprout potatoes before planting. Plant when the shoots are ¾". Make drainage holes in base of bin & fill 1/3 compost. Evenly space potatoes, shoots pointing up. Cover with 6" compost and water well. Add compost around plants as they grow til bin is full. This encourages tubers to form, prevents them turning green and poisonous. They need a reliable supply of water to produce a good harvest. Never allow compost to dry out. Potatoes ready when plants flower. Harvest all at once or as needed.Valerie Fahey
