"Dance at Bougival" in 1883 by Pierre Auguste Renoir (Limoges 1841 - Cagnes-sur-mer 1919). Impresionist painter. Parisian open-air café’s were popular haunts for the Impressionists. Renoir’s loose brushwork gives us a sense of the energetic atmosphere, and suggests the movement of the swirling couple. The artist draws our gaze directly towards the lady’s face, which is painted with more delicate brushstrokes.Pablo Ponz
